For my column in IEEE Potentials careers and graduate education theme issue last year, I shared common questions employers ask references when considering future employees. This year, the world has changed a bit. Employers are still hiring high-tech workers, so most IEEE Student Members are in a much better situation than many of their fellow citizens. Still, numerous companies are slowing down their hiring. Many students lost the summer internships they had been counting on. Students and recent graduates are reevaluating the job landscape.
