Eura Nova was built in 2008 on a wave of new technologies that were to revolutionize the world, and its mission was to boost this revolution in Europe. We created Eura Nova to give a competitive advantage to companies thanks to cutting-edge IT technology. How? First, by combining three kinds of expertise: data science, data architecture, and soft- ware development. All three are articulated: data science models’ full potential can be unleashed if and when they are supported by an architecture that makes the digital shift possible and when they are applied in a user-friendly solution developed wisely in the client company’s technical environment. Second, by using a one-of-a-kind business model, as Eura Nova is a consultancy company supported by a product incubator and a private research center. To perform scientific research in computer science meant studying the new landscape of distributed computing architectures and lever- aging their power with machine learning algorithms applied on large amounts of data, which requires a lot of calculation power.

Characteristics of social robots: A framework for development

Social robots hold great promise for assisting both older adults with dementia and those in good health. Yet, little is known about how people want to interact with these robots. This article introduces a framework for the key features social robots should have, based on insights from a four-month study of how seniors engage with robots through conversation and interaction. We have broken these features down into principles of robot behavior, verbal communication, and nonverbal communication, while also considering factors that affect a person’s likelihood to adopt such technology. Our findings offer a starting point for refining social robots and & developing features that truly resonate with users.
