The design process is integral to engineer ing education. Design competitions offer engineering students the opportunity to learn beyond the classroom, yet there is limited information available regarding their value. In this article, we aim to explore the impact on students participating in Engineering World Health’s (EWH’s) Design Competition, in both the skills they develop during the com petition and their careers moving forward. To assess the potential benefits and disadvantages of participating, we sent a survey of openended questions to past competition winners.
