Pursuing a Ph.D. degree is stressful enough; however, it can be even more difficult during a pandemic. If 2020 taught me anything, it has been how to persevere and move forward through all types of challenges. This message is loud and clear for everyone, especially for many graduate students, such as me, who are trying to navigate the unpredictable nature surrounding the pandemic. Many graduate students had no idea what we were walking into at the beginning of 2020. One of the toughest decisions of my academic career was to change my Ph.D. supervisor and research topic. Coincidently, I chose to complete this process during the 2019–2020 academic year. Often, this procedure is riddled with difficulties; however, it was even more challenging during the pandemic.
