Of the many languages in use in the world today, there are some who would argue that English and Mandarin are among the harder ones to master. In the case of Mandarin, the difficulty in learning to speak the language is in mastering the tonal enunciation, with the meaning of a word changing based on the ending tonal inflection—up, down, or combined (up–down or down–up).
