After nearly two years, it snowed again in New York City. As I watched the first specks of snow fall from the sky, I couldn’t help but think back to my childhood. Growing up in the city, I looked forward to the thick blanket of snow that would cover the streets, signaling that school was canceled for the day and that I would spend all afternoon outside making snowmen with my siblings. The excitement and happiness at seeing snowflakes gently fall to the ground eroded little by little as each winter brought less and less snow.
