Abstract:
With the gradual advancement of the intelligent transportation system (ITS), the digital twin of wireless channels (DTWC), as one of the critical technologies for future ITS network evolution, has received widespread attention. This article presents the architecture, characteristics, and critical technologies of DTWC systems for ITSs. With the rapid development of emerging technologies such as intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs), smart railways, and uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs), the ITS places increasingly stringent demands on wireless communications in terms of stability, low latency, and high reliability. DTWCs, through accurate channel modeling and real-time prediction capabilities, effectively address communication challenges in complex urban environments. Additionally, the article analyzes the requirements and applications of digital twins in specific ITS scenarios and provides potential directions and standardization recommendations for future research.
