Artificial intelligence and Internet of Things for intelligent transportation systems

March 19, 2026 by Sudhir K. Routray, Sasmita Mohanty

Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of things (IoT) are key technologies for intelligent transportation systems (ITSs). The fusion of these two important technologies is essential for ITSs, which can steer the future of mobility toward greater safety, efficiency, and sustainability. AI-driven analytics, coupled with real-time IoT sensor data, enable dynamic … [Read more...] about Artificial intelligence and Internet of Things for intelligent transportation systems

Digital twin of wireless channels for the intelligent transportation system

September 19, 2025 by Meiwen Zhang, Ke Guan, Danping He, Andrej Hrovat, Tomaž Javornik,

Abstract: With the gradual advancement of the intelligent transportation system (ITS), the digital twin of wireless channels (DTWC), as one of the critical technologies for future ITS network evolution, has received widespread attention. This article presents the architecture, characteristics, and critical technologies of DTWC systems for ITSs. With the rapid development of … [Read more...] about Digital twin of wireless channels for the intelligent transportation system

Electronic differential: A vital component of electric vehicles

February 6, 2024 by Pranjal Barman

The demand for electric vehicles (EVs) has increased recently to meet the desire for an ecofriendly transportation system on a global scale. The electrification of vehicles opens up a number of new options and opportunities for doing research in several fields. In a conventional EV, a single electric motor powers the car through reduction gears and the mechanical differential … [Read more...] about Electronic differential: A vital component of electric vehicles

A buoyancy device design for antisink ships

June 13, 2023 by Chun-Te Lee

Ships have many uses in human social life and can be used for various purposes, such as the transportation of people and goods, military affairs, and scientific research. Generally, major ship accidents rarely occur because ships’ design and construction are completed in strict compliance with relevant regulations and international standards (Pan et al., 2020). For … [Read more...] about A buoyancy device design for antisink ships

Privacy implications of facial recognition technology

Facial recognition technology (FRT) has experienced enormous growth and rapid deployment across different sectors of the society in recent years, mostly motivated by safety, security, and commercial applications. However, major privacy questions arise around this technology, and regulators are still working to provide clear set of rules governing its use. This paper focuses on privacy implications of FRT usage. Specifically, we first present the definition of FRT, followed by an analysis of the vulnerability and risks that can potentially arise and how they might be concerning in such context. Finally, we discuss efforts needed to mitigate privacy concerns related to FRT, from both technical and regulatory perspectives.
